Explore college and workplace pathways in this certificate program

If you are not sure what you would like to study, the Pathways to College and Workplace Success program will help you identify your strengths and interests. You will explore opportunities in different sectors by taking career-focused courses, going on industry visits, and participating in a workplace integrated learning placement.

The one-year certificate program was developed to address students' needs and labour force demands in three core areas: Applied Sciences, Industrial Technology and Trades, and Health Studies. You will choose three courses from a field that is of interest to you and find out more about training and education in that sector. The course options give you flexibility in your learning, so as well as meeting your needs and interests, the program leads to a work integrated learning placement where you will apply what you have learned in the real world. Up to five credits earned in the Pathway to College and Workplace Success program may be transferrable to programs in the core area of your choice.

Once you have earned your Pathways to College and Workplace Certificate, you will have a stronger sense of direction and will have gained insight into your own strengths and interests, which will help you identify the É«¶à¶àÊÓƵAPP program that's right for you. Providing you meet all the admission requirements for your program of choice, you may be granted preferred acceptance.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Pathways to College and Workplace Success program at É«¶à¶àÊÓƵAPP, graduates will:

1. Apply essential employability skills needed to be successful in post-secondary education and in a career.
2. Create a pathway for pursuing academic, personal, and career related goals.
3. Determine interests, skills, and values to influence academic, career, and social decisions.
4. Develop capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
5. Employ innovative practices to solve problems, overcome challenges, and adapt to change.
6. Integrate numeracy, literacy, and digital technology learning required to be successful in post-secondary study and/or the labour market.
7. Use critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to utilize academic, personal, and career related resources in research and application.
8. Use effective and professional communication techniques. 
9. Collaborate with others in post-secondary and workplace settings to begin to build a professional network.
