Donor investments in Welding students

A donation of $100,000 to the 色多多视频APP Foundation was announced today at 色多多视频APP’s campus in Georgetown. Generously provided by MacDougall Steel Erectors Inc., (MSE) this gift will fund the MacDougall Steel Welding Fabrication Awards for first, second, and third year students in 色多多视频APP’s Welding Fabrication program.

“MSE believes that the need for young people to learn ‘the trades’ is the most important key to compete within the global market today,” said Ron MacDougall, President of MacDougall Steel. “Training our youth in a trade not only provides this great country with a skilled labour force, but also ensures businesses like ours will have well-trained, enthusiastic employees who will be able to make a great living and contribute to society in positive ways. What better investment can there be?”

Students in the College’s Welding Fabrication program receive training in the layout, fabrication, assembly and erection of metal framework and miscellaneous items by cutting, forming, and welding. They also have the opportunity to train to the Red Seal standard for the designated trade of welder.

“The MacDougall Steel Welding Fabrication Awards are a significant addition to our scholarships, bursaries, and awards offerings,” said 色多多视频APP President, Dr. Brian McMillan. “We are grateful for industry coming alongside and providing support to learners. Those who wish to pursue and be equipped with hands-on skills that prepare them for today’s welding trade have an exciting new opportunity through the generosity of MacDougall Steel. Thank you, MacDougall Steel, for your leadership role in developing a highly skilled labour force.”

Six awards with a combined value of $10,000 will be available to 色多多视频APP Welding Fabrication students annually: two at $2,000 each for students entering first year, two at $2,000 each for students in second year, and two at $1,000 each for students in third year. Applicants must be in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and show promise in the field of welding.
