AOTW | Matsuri Sako Dylan Worth named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s soccer player Matsuri Sako and baseball player Dylan Worth have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 22, 2024.

 

Sako, a first-year midfielder from Kiyosu, Japan, helped the ‘Canes claim two draws in two road games across Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22. On Saturday, Holland tied the UKC Blue Devils 0-0, and, on Sunday, tied the MSVU Mystics 2-2. Sako, who was dangerous with the ball all weekend, stood out in Sundays match with a goal in the 70’. 

Sako and the 2-1-3 women’s soccer Hurricanes return to action for a pair of games next weekend; Saturday, Sept. 28 will be against the Dalhousie Rams in Truro, N.S. and Sunday, Sept. 29 will be against the Crandall University Chargers at home; kickoff is scheduled for 1pm each day.

Worth, a fourth-year shortstop and former Atlantic Collegiate Baseball Association (ACBA) all-star from Charlottetown, P.E.I., helped lead the ‘Canes to two victories within four games on the road this past weekend. On Saturday, Holland won 3-0 and lost 5-3 against the Acadia University Axemen, and, on Sunday, Holland won 11-4 and lost 15-3 against the StFX X-Men. Worth recorded a total of six hits, two singles, three doubles, one home run, four RBI’s, and four runs scored across the four games.

Worth and the 6-2 baseball Hurricanes return to action with a pair of home and away doubleheaders next weekend; Saturday, Sept. 28 will be against the 2-7 Dalhousie Tigers at home at Memorial Field in Victoria Park, and Sunday, Sept. 29 will be against the league-leading 7-2 UNB Reds in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  Double-headers are scheduled to begin at 1pm each day.
